Dear City Council members,
I am writing to support the adoption of the proposed tenant relocation
assistance ordinance (link

https://www.menlopark.org/1399/Proposed-tenant-relocation-assistance-or>).
My support is based on the desire to prevent the displacement of long time
community members being caused by the following factors:
1. The appalling lack of affordable housing for low income families in
Menlo Park
2. The large increases in apartment and single family home rental rates
3. The relatively small increases in wages for mid- to low-income
families
These 3 factors have created a crisis that has resulted and will continue
to result in the displacement and loss to our community of people who have
lived here for many years and who are positive additions to our collective
quality of life.
Please consider supporting the proposed tenant relation assistance
ordinance as it will incentivize smaller year-over-year rent increases,
forcing out fewer people in the near term and allowing additional time for
you to get more affordable housing and other long term remedies in place.
