Tenant Relocation Assistance ordinance

I am writing to encourage you to pass the Tenant Relocation Assistance ordinance as soon as possible.
There are currently no protections in place for tenants who are evicted for no fault of their own, including inability to pay exorbitant rent increases. Many cities have such ordinances on the books to help tenants find a new place to live if they must vacate the property.
With this ordinance, landlords aren't obligated to pay anything unless they raise the rent dramatically and their tenant is low-income. It's a reasonable measure given the circumstances.
People are leaving Menlo Park and some are becoming homeless because their rents are skyrocketing. This isn't about placing undue burden on landlords. We all pay the costs of this housing crisis one way or another.
Please pass this ordinance as soon as possible. People need help now. After bringing thousands of jobs and barely increasing our supply of housing for decades, it's the least we can do.
