Grateful for the bollards on Olive Street!

Dear Public Works,
I wanted to write a quick note to say thank you for the placement of the white bollards on Olive Street near the corner of Santa Cruz Avenue in Menlo Park. These bollards have been a very positive addition to help protect walkers, bikers and drivers. This corner is a very stressful and hectic area during school commute times. My own son was “doored” at this intersection in September of 2017 (before the bollards were placed). While riding his bike to school a car quickly pulled over to the side of the road on Olive Street near Santa Cruz Avenue to unload a student, cutting my son off. My son was “doored” and fractured his collarbone. It was a very scary situation. The placement of these bollards has provided a safe space for bikers and walkers. It also clearly prevents cars from pulling over to unload their students in an unsafe way. I am grateful that the bollards are there and are protecting those who use this road to commute to school or wherever else they may be going in Menlo Park.
Thank you and with extreme gratitude,
Linda Knoll
