Ravenswood / Caltrain underpass discussion

Dear City Council -    In addition to my earlier submitted comments, please consider the following during your Caltrain underpass discussion tonight, Jan 15.
1.  I am against a tunnel study. My expectation is that  design challenges and  high cost, possibly approaching $1B(?), would make the project unjustifiable, even if feasible.  I believe Palo Alto has abandoned looking at a trench which is similarly complex.
 2. I would like to hear more on the viaduct option. My understanding is that a viaduct was rejected earlier because of  high cost. What was that cost estimate and what were the cost drivers?  Or was it believed that a viaduct is not feasible?  Please clarify.
3.   Option A should include pedestrian/bike underpasses at Oak Grove and Glenwood.  That means only automobiles would be delayed at those two crossings. The cost of such tunnels would be small compared to the overall project cost.

Thanks very much,

 John Kadvany / College Ave.
