Removal of Redwood Trees

Dear City Council Members,

It is unfortunate that seven redwood trees need to be removed at 1000 El
Camino Real because the roots have damaged the parking structure. I trust
that alternatives to removal were thoughtfully considered. If the only
solution is to remove the seven trees, then I urge you to make sure the
redwoods are replaced with trees that will be suitable to the location and
our climate. For instance, white barked birch trees are not suited to our
summer-dry climate. Brisbane box and coast live oak are good options.

Thank you,
Janet Gilmore
