Ridiculous amounts of traffic & congestion downtown

I’d just like to thank the historical City Council members who rubber stamped the unprecedented development in Menlo Park over the past few years. My thoughts really went out to you this afternoon as I tried to go to Trader Joe’s and run a couple of errands on Santa Cruz Avenue, only to find literally NOT. ONE. SINGLE parking spot in ANY lots, or on the street ~ any street.

I don’t mind parking and walking to my various destinations ~ in fact, that’s what I normally do ~ but when the streets and parking lots are choked with cars and there isn’t a single spot to be found anywhere ~ when it’s virtually impossible to go half a block because so many cars are trying to negotiate their way around backups caused by someone stopping in the middle of the road to secure the one precious spot to be found, then maybe ~ MAYBE ~ we should entertain the possibility that there are too many cars, and too many people, being crammed into the finite amount of real estate that is Menlo Park.

As for the outcome of my attempt to run a few simple errands? I had to go home, because there was nowhere to leave my car downtown.

So again, thank you.
