La Entrada School and Water Main Breaks

To the Menlo Park City Council,
I am writing because I am very concerned about the lost instructional hours, instructional materials, damage to property and overall disruption caused by the two major recent water main breaks on Monte Rosa that flooded the La Entrada campus.  I have two children who attend La Entrada School.  Both have had to move classrooms to portables, have lost instructional days due to the flooding and damage, and one of my children had to wade out of her classroom, which was suddenly infiltrated by flood waters last week.  This flooding and damage has put an undue burden particularly on the teachers and administration at La Entrada, who have responded quickly and admirably.  However, they have lost teaching materials, had to dedicate extra time to relocate classrooms and reconstruct lessons and materials.  I am writing because I was particularly astonished when the campus was flooded a second time last week, and believe the City of Menlo Park owes the La Entrada community a clear explanation and evidence that the water main problem has been fixed and also that the City is compensating the La Entrada teachers and administrators for the time and materials lost due to the two floods.
