Re: Draeger’s Market in downtown Menlo Park

Honorable Mayor Ohtaki and Members of the City Council,

To me, Draeger's Market is a critical part of downtown Menlo Park. It is
the reason I shop in Menlo Park. More often than not, on any trip to
Draeger's, I spend money at one or two other stores or businesses as well.
It is one of very few locally owned establishments available to us, which
keeps profits in Menlo Park. It is one of the few places where you can buy
quality foods and merchandise.

It seems from the options offered to solve loading zone problem, the street
based public loading zone is the best answer. Please consider approving

Two concerns were expressed in the Almanac: pedestrian safety if the
loading dock is on Menlo Avenue and the increased use of the lot at Menlo
Avenue and University. I generally park in this lot and have rarely see
pedestrians walking up Menlo Avenue. However, at the crosswalk from this
lot across the street to the market, I have seen a person hit by a car. I
was told by a grocery clerk that that happens with some regularity.

Thank you,

Sandra Turner
