End Red light cameras

Dear City Council members,

I'd urge you to do the right thing by our residents and cancel the Red Light Camera contract.
It is absolutely tone-deaf to suggest extending it for 2 months to find out if it was "effective".
It's been effective at saddling residents with hefty $500 fines for red-light violations that often didn't happen.
This company has a terrible track record; among other things, I understand they shorten the time of the yellow lights to entrap more drivers who then get caught in the intersection as the light turns red.
All our neighboring cities long ago stopped doing business with this corrupt company--all except Menlo Park.
This is not a distinction we need.

Some of you are up for re-election in a couple of weeks.
No resident wants these cameras and we're going to be paying attention as to how you vote.
