Draeger's Market Loading Zone

Dear Menlo Park City Council,

As a long-term Menlo Park resident, I'm writing in support of Draegers’s
market recent request to relocate their loading zone to Menlo Avenue.
Draeger's is a pillar of the Menlo Park community and one of the key
reasons for residents and non-residents alike to head to our downtown area,
which is admittedly not as vibrant a retail scene as nearby cities such as
Palo Alto, Redwood City, or Burlingame. I believe we should be looking for
opportunities to make it easier for long- established organizations like
Draeger’s to do business in Menlo Park rather than introducing new

For example, taking away on-street loading for deliveries to Draeger’s
makes it more challenging for this local business to thrive. While adding
new residential development is welcome in our area, I hope it can coexist
with the current market. Similarly, in my opinion as a regular biker,
allowing Draeger’s to utilize the 5 parking spots along Menlo Ave for
loading should add no additional risk to bicycles, particularly in light of
the fact that individual cars are already parked in this location, opening
doors and pulling in/out.

Thank you for your consideration.
