Draegers' loading zone

Dear City Council members,

I live by Draegers and have shopped there for over 20 years.
Draegers is a draw for our community--a unique market with a wonderful selection of high quality items in every category, from meats to cheeses to wines to chocolates, and much, much more. It is a beautiful store, with a spectacular floral display at one entrance, and an elegant bakery at the other. But now it seems it's very survival in Menlo Park is in jeopardy.

Like many others, I'm concerned that Draegers could be negatively impacted or even forced to close if you do not support their need for a viable loading dock.
Their first choice, which I urge you to support, is to redesign the proposed project's garage entrance to Menlo Ave. and to retain the existing Evelyn St. loading zone for Draegers.

This makes sense not only for Draegers, but for the project's eventual occupants. People will likely be driving down Menlo Ave. to get to this project, making it much more convenient to have the driveway on Menlo Ave. than on Evelyn.

For the proposed project, what's at stake is a minor issue of simply moving the garage entrance; for Draegers, it is a survival issue.
I urge the City Council to preserve Draegers' loading zone on Evelyn St.
Draegers brings vibrancy to our community. It is a thriving business that we can ill afford to lose.

Thank you,

Cherie Zaslawsky
