Christmas Tree - Lighting Costs

Honorable Mayor Ohtaki and Council Members,

When is the cost no longer worth the benefit?
Frankly lighting the tall tree at 1) Fremont Park and 2) on the corner of ECR and Ravenswood is wonderful, but I understand it takes nearly $50,000 to install and remove them every year, that is $250,000 over 5 years. Obviously the trees are wonderful to look at, but is the cost worth the benefit?  Should those funds be redirected for something that may have more lasting benefit?
I don't recall the issue being discussed at a City Council meeting. If not, would you be open to placing the issue on the agenda this year?  Maybe issues related to transportation, parking, safe routes to school, public park improvements, library enhancements and a host of other potential projects can weigh in and be discussed.
Thank you for your time in considering this request.
