Dear City Council.
I wanted to thank you all so much for approving the criteria for the sidewalk project last night and for enabling the sidewalk project to even EXIST! Thank you.!!!!! I donıt know if you understand how INCREDIBLY grateful we all are. Itıs a HUGE relief to know that we will not always have to walk/bike in fear on Woodland. That we will finally have a safe place to walk. HUGE.

Perhaps my letter to the Willows neighborhood will give you an idea. Best,
Dana Shields.

 Hi all,
Just wanted to thank everyone for filling out the sidewalk survey last December. It worked!
We will have sidewalks on Woodland between Euclid and Menalto.!!!!!!

That means our kids can walk safely to the bus stop at menalto That means parents can safely bike with their kids to school That means we will all have a safe place to learn to ride bicycles with our children.
That means maybe weıll get more than 2 Trick or Treaters next year. That means maybe the traffic will slow down due to narrower streets. That means weıll be able to push a stroller without fear of getting run over.

Last night, Ellen Haffner and I attended the city council meeting and stayed until 10 pm, to hear the Sidewalk Master Plan presentation .

Ellen and I both spoke AGAIN about the urgent need for a safe place for children to walk and ride their bikes on our end of Woodland.

Well, after 6 years of screaming about how dangerous Woodland is. We have been heard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We will have sidewalks on Woodland between Euclid and Menalto.!!!!!!

I think it will happen in the next year. Not sure yet. But it will happen. Woodland will be a top priority!!!!!!!!!!!

YEAH!!!!!!!!!! If you can, PLEASE send a thank you note to the city council at city.council@menlopark.org

Kelly Fergusson, Rich Cline, and Hayward Robinson really went to bat for us last night. They deserve a big thank you.

Also please add a sentence saying why it is important to YOU/YOUR KIDS to have a sidewalk. That might make things move along faster.

ALSO, Iıd like to invite city council and Kent Steffens to walk down Woodland at rush hour pushing strollers. ;-) I was thinking 7:40 8:00 am. When everyone is rushing to get to school/work.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Dana

Iıll be attending the city council meeting tomorrow night to listen to the presentation by the expert sidewalk consultants. The meeting starts at 7 .

If you check out the last 2 pages of the staff report, http://service.govdelivery.com/docs/CAMENLO/CAMENLO_101/CAMENLO_101_20080212
_en.pdf

Woodland did not make the top of priority list for sidewalk implementation! ;( Santa Cruz avenue did.

I may have overlooked it but I didnıt see ³narrow curvy street² mentioned as a data point anywhere on the report. Seems like the curves are what makes woodland so dangerous....... sigh.

Will let you know what happens at the meeting if you canıt join me.

Dana
PS
Info from Chip Taylor of the Transportation committee below.
