EV charging stations in MP

Dear Menlo Park Council Members,

My friends in Menlo Park have asked me to write to you to express my strong support for prioritizing the compulsory inclusion of more EV charging stations in new developments. I own two electric cars and a traditional gas mini-van. To visit friends in Menlo I sometimes need to consider whether to use my Leaf (can I charge while I’m up there?) or my gas mini-van. More times than not, I drive the gas-consuming, carbon-emitting mini-van because I am not confident I can charge and get home. I'm strongly urging you to pass the ordinance requiring more EV charging in new residential developments - not only for your residents but for those of us who would like to visit your fine city!

Clearly we already beginning to feel the effects of changes to the climate. We have a profound responsibility now to act and make a relatively small investment in infrastructure … I know what these developments are costing and selling/renting for - I think we can safely assume that the cost of implementing charging stations is quite tiny relative to the profit that developers are making off the new residential and commercial real estate in Menlo. Thank you for your consideration.

I live in south Los Altos and hope to work with my fair city as well in our Green work. Thank you for listening!
