840 Menlo Ave--please do not make Menlo Ave. a loading zone

Dear esteemed Councilmembers,

I'm writing in support of city's staff's recommendation to deny the appeal
and support the Planning Commission's approval of the development at 840
Menlo Ave.

The Complete Streets Commission (which I serve on) had a chance to review
the portion of the project that concerned Draeger's loading operations.
Draeger's has proposed that loading would take place on Menlo Ave. But
Menlo Ave. is a popular pedestrian and bicycle route—-not because it is
particularly safe for either, but because it is one of the most direct
routes to and from downtown. With large delivery trucks stopping on Menlo
Ave., it would compromise this route further.

I sympathize with Draeger's desire to keep the adjoining parking plaza
available for customers. However, I think the safety of all residents and
visitors using Menlo Ave. outweighs the convenience of some.

Thanks in advance for taking this under consideration,

Lydia Lee
