Honorable Mayor Ohtaki and Council Members:

One of the primary duties of government is the topic of a DISASTER PREPAREDNESS, much like it’s a parent’s responsibility to keep their children safe.
When disaster unexpectedly strikes, such as, a major earthquake, wild fire, terrorism and so on, what are your plans? Recently the Menlo Park Police Chief David Bertini passionately spoke publicly before the City Council that the Emergency Management Office (EMO) was
inadequate and needed attention. Frankly this statement made me nervous.

Should this be a priority? If not now- when?

Nearby cities seem to be way ahead of us. What can we learn? What are best practices? What is in Tuesday’s budget for this?
