Re: BuildingNew Libraries
I am writing to let you know that I support plans to build anew Main Library in Menlo Park, as well as a new branch library in BelleHaven. Plans to build a new Main Libraryare much closer to being a reality and I urge you to accept the recommendationsof the Library staff presented at the May 22 Council meeting.
Many Bay Area cities and towns have already built librariesthat have become centers not just for books and reading, but for meeting andcollaboration spaces for all segments of the community, places for children, adolescents and teens to meet and be inspired to learn, as well as largeconference centers for all to use. MenloPark has a chance to bring our libraries into the current century, and weshould take this opportunity to do so. We also have a large private donation that has been offered and thiswill give us a boost and help us to achieve our goal of modern libraries.
