Building New Libraries

I am writing to let you know that I strongly support plans to build a new Main Library in Menlo Park, as well as a new branch library in the Belle Haven neighborhood.  As plans to build a new Main Library are much closer to being a reality, I urge you to accept the recommendations of the Library staff to be presented at the May 22 Council meeting.
Many Bay Area cities and towns have already built libraries that have become centers not just for books and reading, but meeting and collaboration spaces for all segments of the community, safe places for children, adolescents and teens to meet and be inspired to learn, as well as large conference centers for all to use.  Menlo Park has a chance to bring our libraries into the current century, and we should take this opportunity to do so.  We also have a large private donation that has been offered and this will give us a boost and help us to achieve our goal of modern libraries.
