Belmont No Smoking Ordinance

Dear Menlo Park City Council Members,

With the passing of the city of Belmont's expansive no smoking ordinance, have you taken up discussion with reference to passing a similar law in Menlo Park? I would urge you to address this issue and to follow in the footsteps of Belmont's landmark ordinance. I am speaking in particular about the concern those of us who live in multi-unit apartment complexes have for the lack of any ordinance contolling second hand smoke in our apartment homes. Smokers are allowed to smoke at will and fill up enclosed buildings with their second hand smoke. It is atrocious to me that places of business can exclude smokers, but in your private home you do not have control over this now declared Toxic airborne substance. Again, I would urge you to consider a pervasive non-smoking law for the city of Menlo Park. And I would urge you to do so immediately. This abuse has been going on for far too long.

I would appreciate receiving a reply to this matter.

Respectfully,
