New Guild

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am writing in support of all efforts by the planning commission and the city council to expedite approvals for the New Guild project. As a senior partner in the law firm of Latham & Watkins, with over 100 attorneys working in our offices in Menlo Park, I have a serious vested interested in seeing our community expand its cultural offerings. The New Guild promises to expand and enrich the quality of life for residents, workers, business, their employees, and all other constituents who together create the broader Menlo Park community. I can think of no project in Menlo Park's history that promises to deliver the cultural and entertainment offerings contemplated by the New Guild. That makes it a truly unique opportunity for all of us. I am also greatly enthused by the commitment of the project's backers to constitute the New Guild on a non-profit basis. That will ensure that the New Guild can deliver high-quality offerings without regard to profit maximization, but instead with regard to the ongoing benefits that will be enjoyed by Menlo Park constituents. To say that we at Latham & Watkins are excited by the New Guild would be an understatement. We recognize and appreciate the city's support of the project to date, and we encourage the city's continuing support.

Best regards,

Robert A. Koenig
