Honorable Mayor Ohtaki and Council Members,

Volunteers to serve on City Committees and Commissions currently are restricted to being RESIDENTS living within the city.

Another sources of VOLUNTEERS may be those who either

    1) WORK within the city, and/or

    2) Own PROPERTY within the city.

As City Committees and Commissions primarily have 7 members, it may be appropriate to consider having at least 2 POSITIONS from those willing to serve from one or both of the areas outlined above. Afterall, employees and property owners use the Library, Parks and Recreation facilities, drive on our roads, bicycle around town, etc. They too should have a voice.

The TALENT, IDEAS AND EXPERIENCES that employees and property owners can bring to the city and share with fellow members could be invaluable.

If you agree, perhaps it can be placed on the CITY COUNCIL AGENDA one day for discussion. As you know, volunteers serve at your pleasure.

THANK YOU for your time and consideration of the idea above, and for your service to the community.
