possible policy about use of the City Council Chambers

Dear Council:

Please read the blog at the Menlo Park Almanac concerning use of the City Council Chambers by many different groups. http://www.almanacnews.com/square/index.php?i=3&d=&t=1166

As you can see there are thoughts on all sides of this issue. It would be unfortunate for the Council to put a policy in place that is illegal. It would be prudent of the Council not to react to one or two individuals with a certain point of view, but to consider the rights of all citizens and pass a policy that would be legal under the law or to leave the present policy in place.    I have attached a letter that I wrote to the Almanac which has thoughts about the legal issue. Thank you for your thoughtful, non-reactive approach to this issue.

                              Sincerely, Elizabeth Crecelius Schwartz
