Gun buy back program

Dear City Counci:

in the wake of the recent shooting, I would like to ask for your help to initiate a Silicon Valley gun buy back program.

An estimated 270 to 310 million guns are in private hands in the US. It is hard to change gun laws, but it is easy to start a program to get guns off the streets. I feel, if we stay inactive, we are responsible for any future shooting on our soil.

Other cities have been successful with gun buy backs. There are several options, including giving out Taget gift cards for every gun handed in. If money is the issue, I will start a fund raiser here in Silicon Valley.

As some of you know, I have an art gallery in Menlo Park, and I am in talks with an artist Lin Evola who is brining the Peace Angel Project to the Bay Area. The angels are made out of decommissioned weapons.

Please let me know how we can start the program. I live in Menlo Park, have four children, and a shooting can happen anywhere. We all have the right to be unharmed, the public needs to protect us. Any fire arm we can get off the street is a start.

Best regards,

Dr. Katharina Powers
