Safety of our children

Good evening ,

My name is Laura Olivares, have been a resident of the belle heaven community for over 20 years. I have two boys that attend Beechwood school. The concern I have is the speed in which people drive. We do not have enough school signs, I believe we only have one , and that is at the entrance of the Onetta Harris Community Center parking lot. I have been walking with my boys to school, and majority of the drivers go well above the 25 mile speed limit. I have seen signs that alert the drivers of their speed limits in other parts of the city. I have seen streets with signs of pedestrians crossing with blinking lights on the actual signs and on the pavement. Yet we do not have it near our school. I am afraid of a child, adult, elderly being hit by one of the careless drivers. It is an accident waiting to happen. We should be proactive, and prevent any accident form happening, rather then waiting for it to happen, and then make changes.
Please advise on this matter.

Thank you for your time,
Laura Olivares
