Are we the next Cape Town?

Council Members:

I suggest that water usage be a part of every new building application. I've
heard that some of the big new developments don't have individual water
meters, so the total water cost is divided among all units. That doesn't
encourage tenants to save water.

Cape Town, South Africa, Friday, Feb. 2, 2018. South Africa's drought-hit
city of Cape Town introduced new water restrictions in an attempt to avoid
what it calls "Day Zero," the day in mid-April when it might have to turn

"Day Zero" is approaching as South Africa's showcase city of Cape Town
prepares to turn off most water taps amid the worst drought in a century.
