re keeping the Guild the kind of venue we need in the mid-Peninsula

I am deeply concerned about the possible loss of yet another cinema that
shows quality independent and foreign films in the mid-Peninsula area. I
am an avid movie-goer who always looks first at the Landmark Theatres for
films of real interest, and I have watched with sadness as, one after the
other, the theatres closed in Palo Alto and Menlo Park. The illegal
tearing down of the Park's beautiful art deco sign was a harbinger of what
was to follow. What did you do about that?

Please know that the Guild is a vital economic engine in Menlo Park. I
nearly always go for a meal before or after a film screening--and almost
always go to Kepler's as well to purchase books. If the Guild stops
serving this audience. I will have far fewer reasons to ever go to Menlo
Park from Mountain View.

The quality of life on the Peninsula depends to a large extent on its
cultural offerings, not just retail stores and restaurants. Film is a
critical piece of this landscape. I hope you will do everything in your
power to influence what happens at the Guild, and that you will insist that
a quality theatre remain at the heart of Menlo Park's downtown.

Thank you,

Suzanne Abel
