PLEASE, for the sake of our children's safety, install sidewalks on Sharon Road

Council Members,

I know that you are considering many projects but I can't imagine that many
can be more important than something that deals directly with the safety of
numerous elementary and middle school students. The stretch of Sharon
Road, between Alameda de las Pulgas and Altschul Avenue, is a main walkway
for many children living east of La Entrada Middle School. The road has no
sidewalks and can be dangerous for walking children on a normal day. But
imagine rainy days, where the dirt walkways turn to mud and puddles and the
children are forced to walk in the middle of the road with cars who already
have poor visibility due to the weather. Or garbage days, when the side of
the roads (aka the walkways for the kids) are full of garbage cans. Or
whenever people park their cars on Sharon road. All of these normal and
common occurrences force our young children to walk in the middle of the
road with cars just so they can get to and from school. PLEASE let us know
that you are not ok with this and that you support the proposal to put
sidewalks on the stretch of Sharon Road between La Entrada Middle School
and Alameda de las Pulgas.

Thank you for your support,
Christine Hurley (local resident, home owner, and mother of 3 young
