El Camino Visioning process

Dear Council,

I fully support a process that will develop a consensus vision and plan for the El Camino and Santa Cruz corridors. Having served on several prior community committees, I have a few observations and suggestions for the Council regarding the currently planned process.

DOWNTOWN/EL CAMINO AREA RESIDENTS - the restriction to 1000 feet may eliminate highly qualified, interested residents particularly in the Linfield Oaks and Allied Arts areas. The Council may wish to reconsider the distance limit, or simply select 6 At-Large Members.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT - The attendance requirement may be driven by a desire for a quorum and for good participation. However, it may not allow highly qualified but busy residents to participate. Perhaps the Council could allow the workgroup itself to determine meeting dates and times that ensure a quorum and greatest participation (within the context of the end dates desired by the Council.) Committee members could be expected to arrange for an alternate if they cannot attend any particular meeting.

SPEAKER SERIES - If the Council desires good participation from the * residential* community, please reconsider the start times of the Speaker Series. The time slot from 6-7:15 PM directly conflicts with dinnertime for most families. A 7 PM - or even 5 PM - start time would be better as both of these alternate times allow participation in family dinners.

Sincerely,

Patti Fry
