Dear City Council,
My name is Nina Barman. I am in sixth grade at La Entrada, and I walk to and from school every day. During these daily walks to school, I have noticed that the lack of sidewalks poses a threat to the safety of children and adults alike. During the rainy season, water pools up on the side of the road, a common path for pedestrians. We are then forced to walk around these enormous puddles, yet the only way past requires venturing into the middle of the street. Many of my friends and even I have had several close calls. Luck has held so far, but we may not be as fortunate in the future. There have been polls taken at school, and walking has proved to be the second-most common way for students to get home. Often, pedestrians must walk into the road when there is not a puddle in sight, as there are cars parked where we walk. I beseech you to ensure the safety of us, our peers, and many more, simply by making a few sidewalks.
