The Guild

Dear MP CIty Council Members:

I've lived in Menlo Park for over 20 years and have raised my 3 kids here. While i'm not particularly for unabated growth, i've also been a bit frustrated with our inability to improve our downtown. I'm still amazed that we still have unoccupied auto dealership buildings when coming off Middle to El Camino Real. Glad to see we have a chance to improve that area soon.
Some of my friends told me about the “Save the Guild” theater opportunity where the community could still retain the site for art films, but then add a more diverse set of activities e.g. music, concerts, live performances, etc. They told me about the Peninsula Art Guild and their attempts to fund and drive this opportunity. I'm sure the theater (like it's former brethren the Park to the North) is struggling and this proposal seems like a reasonable way to keep it and expand it's utility and vitality. I understand that this has the possibility of coming before the Council for approval shortly and I encourage you to review this option and approve it. You have made some nice progress in the adding to our community and this would be another great opportunity. Let's win this unique opportunity for Menlo Park vs letting our neighbors to the north and south always move ahead of us. And it will provide opportunities for the ecosystem of restaurants and bars.

PS: i'd imagine traffic will be a consideration but seems like it will host events at night and during the weekends and therefore not create traffic during peak rush hour.

Thanks for all you do and hope you can see to approve this project
