Safer crossing of Middlefield

I have been in contact with staff at the city in the past about the crosswalk on Middlefield in front of the fire station by Linfield Dr.
Even with a “blinking” crosswalk, it is still dangerous. Cars can not see the flashing lights on either the sign or the street and rarely stop.

My dog and I came within inches of being hit by a car that did not stop, despite the fact that other cars had stopped. Students cross here as they go to and from school.

It is a heavily traveled path and absolutely needs the attention of the city council to prioritize the upgrading of the current crosswalk light/signage.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this important safety concern.
