In addition, if you have a personal email distribution list, please consider sending along the notice that applications for the seven City-Council-appointed Oversight and Outreach Committee spots are available, with a due date of January 8, 2008.

*Oversight and Outreach Committee* (Working Group)

The City Council has approved the formation of an El Camino Real/Downtown Vision Process Oversight and Outreach Committee ("the Committee"), with two primary objectives:

  1. Provide input to the consultant and staff regarding the management of the process; and
  2. Reach out to other community members and help bring them into the broader visioning process.

Nine of the 16 Committee members will be appointed directly by designated groups (City Commissions, e.g.), while the remaining seven will be appointed by the City Council to represent the following categories:

If you would like to be considered for one of the above spaces, please fill out and return an application per the instructions by *Tuesday, January 8, 2008*.

Please forward this email to anyone you think might be interested in serving on the Committee.

*Project Schedule*

A tentative project schedule is now available on the project page [ http://www.menlopark.org/projects/comdev_ecrdowntown.htm ]. All meetings will be open to the public.

*Speaker Series*

Thanks to everyone who attended Denise Conley's December 12 presentation on "The Economics of Mixed-Use Development." The presentation can be viewed online via the project page [

The Speaker Series will take a short break for the holidays and will resume on February 13, 2008. The Series is intended to offer a range of opinions- if you have a suggested speaker or topic, please email throgers@menlopark.org.
