Dear Ms. Duncan:
Thank you very much for so clearly communicating your concerns about the safety of the locker doors at Burgess Pool. I especially appreciate you taking the time to develop a variety of suggestions for making the doors as safe as they can be.
Along with the other City officials who have already responded, I'd like to add my best wishes for your mom. I am so sorry she was hurt and hope she feels better soon. In addition, I am writing to update you on the City's actions to address your safety concerns. Key City staff have met with the manager of Burgess Pool operations, Tim Sheeper. At this meeting, a variety of potential safety improvements were discussed, including some of the ideas that you suggest. The following two measures will be implemented in the immediate future: placement of highly visible floor markings to indicate the area of the door swing and the placement of permanent signs to caution pool users that the locker doors swing out. Several temporary caution signs have already been installed.
Mr. Sheeper is committed to closely monitoring the situation to assess the effectiveness of the above measures and to determine if additional steps are necessary. The City is committed to work with Mr. Sheeper and implement any such measures as are determined to be needed.
Thank you again for your email. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Regards,
Audrey Seymour Ramberg
