Please don't consort with Bryan Lanza/Mercury Public Affairs

Dear City Council,

I know how hard city staff works to secure funds for our many
infrastructure needs and wants. I'm sure they did their due diligence and
recommended the firm that they felt would be most effective in this
political climate.

By hiring a lobbyist, we'd be participating in the "money talks loudest"
approach that appears to be driving our current federal government. Perhaps
this is par for the course these days and any city, large or small, that
can afford a lobbying firm has one. But even if that is the case, paying
this particular firm to represent our interests seems like a real
compromise of our values. Please consider both the optics of this choice
and what it would mean for the city to work directly with this particular
individual, whose views are out there for all to see.

Thanks to Jen Wolosin for alerting the community to this potential
relationship.

Lydia Lee
Complete Streets Commissioner
