reject Mercury Public Affairs lobbying contract

Dear City Council Members,

I've been a resident of Menlo Park for 17 years and a homeowner for 15.

I'm shocked to see that we are considering a contract with Mercury Public
Affairs, who are currently under federal Grand Jury investigation
<https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/mueller-grand-jury-investigating-top-dc-lobbyists/2017/11/02/16f8b2ec-c025-11e7-9294-705f80164f6e_story.html?utm_term=.997b4eacded6>.
Furthermore, one key contact for the city from that company is specifically
a focus of that investigation (Vin Weber, former GOP congressman). Another,
Bryan Lanza, worked on Trump's presidential campaign and as a bonus, he
also worked on Citizens United, two great things to put on your resume if
you're trying to impress people with how much damage to Democracy you
yourself have been responsible for.

It makes sense to position Menlo Park with what information and contacts it
needs to make sure it has a fair shot at federal and state funding for
infrastructure projects, but not at any cost.

Many Menlo Park voters like myself will be watching closely the outcome of
the council's decision on this contract.

Menlo Park resident
