Oak Grove Bike Route

Dear Menlo Park City Council,

I am writing as a resident of Menlo Park for over 14 years and a parent with children attending Hillview Middle School and M-A High School. I woud like to thank you for installing the Oak Grove University Crane Bike Pilot path.

Our family often chooses biking as a means of transportation and my children regularly bike to school. I carefully considered the safest route when my girls started at Hillview and we did multiple trial runs and routes. We live in the Flood Triangle neighborhood and our route crosses over train tracks and through some major intersections (Middlefield and El Camino). I remember visiting the Menlo Park Police Department just over 4 years ago to get advice on how to most safely get the kids to 1100 Elder Avenue on their bikes.

The new clearly identified bike path on Oak Grove is a wonderful improvement in our commute and adds to my peace of mind. Having more clearly defined bike paths would make a significant positive impact on the City and the adjoining neighborhoods.

Than you for your dedication to safe routes to school and safe biking routes for the community.
