Dear Law Enforcement Officials,

Parents for Safe Routes sees a need for increased traffic enforcement
around Menlo Park, especially during school commute hours. We are seeing
cars not stopping at crosswalks, cars rolling through stop signs, cars
stopping in "no stopping zones", cars speeding and a lot of cell phone
usage (a lot of this is among parents). While it is our hope that we can
help remind our neighbors to self-enforce, in the meantime, we need your

Example of areas of great concern include:

   - Olive between Middle and Santa Cruz
   - Santa Cruz Avenue and Sharon Road

We also realize that kids and those on bikes are also exhibiting a great
deal of bad behavior (no helmets, riding on the wrong side of the street,
not stopping at stop signs, etc.). One area, among many, we are seeing this
is at Bay Road and Del Norte. While we appreciate the bike rodeo at
Hillview that Officer Mary Ferguson is planning, we welcome even more
collaboration among law enforcement, parents and the schools. We need to
teach our young ones at an early age to establish appropriate behaviors
moving forward.

Parents for Safe Routes would welcome a meeting between law enforcement and
our parent advocacy group so we can work together to help improve the
safety conditions on our streets.

Thank you for your consideration.
