Oh, dear. A third fatality I didn’t know about. A runner, Amit Bagchi, was killed at Santa Cruz and Sand Hill Road just before Christmas 2015. This is all so sad.

Dear San Mateo County Supervisors,
I am writing to support the reduction in the speed limit on Santa Cruz in West Menlo Park to 25 mph, which is on your agenda for Tuesday.
I think you know of the numerous recent accidents in just the last few weeks.
We have had fatalities in our area too. A retired local nurse, Atefeh Bijan, was stuck and killed in the crosswalk in front of her home at Menlo Commons on that stretch of Santa Cruz in 2004. A 20-year-old visiting student, Katherine Pope, was killed on her bicycle just 4 blocks away on Sand Hill Road in 2001.
Thank you for your concern for our safety!

P.S. I am cc’ing the Menlo Park City Council. I understand they are considering reducing the speed on Santa Cruz entering Menlo Park as well.
