Guild Theatre

Dear Distinguished Members of the Council,

I request a moment of your time for a cause that is dear to my heart.

Back in the late 90's I worked at both the Guild and Park Theatres and it
was a very pivotal point in my life and drove me to a life of film
appreciation and production. I am now a filmmaker for Stanford University
making important and informative medical documentaries.

In it's 91st year the Guild is one of the oldest buildings in all of the
Peninsula and faces an uncertain future. If my information is
correct Howard Crittenden is the owner of both the Guild and the also the
owner of the now empty lot that the Park Theatre used to occupy.

I am not against progress. I believe we can live in a world that both
maintains the beauty of our past while also developing new for a bright
future. As well as repurposing buildings and establishments to unintended
activities (fun fact: the Tower Bridge in London used to house a jail in
it's tower). Yet, I must be honest, I find that empty lot where the Park
was to be a tremendous eyesore and I'd hate to see another one.

I implore you to take action by awarding the Guild Theatre as a Historic
Landmark solidifying it's place in Menlo Park history, but also allowing it
to become whatever it needs to be for the owner to keep it financially

Thank you for your time,
