Main library rebuild financing

Since the main library rebuild is being fast-tracked, and any hope of a full-service Belle Haven library being largely ignored, the current library development plan is clearly not meant to benefit all of Menlo Park. Therefore the $20K that Mr. Arillaga wants the city to raise should not be taken from funds meant to benefit all of Menlo Park, such as the general fund or the reserve fund. Nor should the interest on any bonds issued be paid from funds meant to benefit all of Menlo Park. I think that the best way to finance the $20K would be through a bond issue on which the interest will be paid out of user fees on the new improved downtown Menlo Park main library, so that city funds meant to benefit the city can be used to benefit the whole city. I’m sure that the enormous, versatile, high tech new building can find all kinds of money-making events to sponsor that would allow it to pay for itself.
