Arrillaga Library donation

I am writing as a long term Menlo Park resident. I would like to echo the concerns outlined by Jennifer Wolosin in her recent letter to the council regarding the prioritizing of the library project over more pressing city needs.

I hope Mr. Arrillaga will understand that the citizenry has other concerns at this point in time and, while a new library would be desirable and his generosity is appreciated, we must address the housing and traffic crises first.

Moreover, a divide between the east and west sides of our city has begun opening wider and I believe that building a new main library before renovation of the Belle Haven library would be a further affront to that portion of our population who has already been feeling under represented and ignored.

I hope that once our other priorities have been addressed and our city is in a better position, Mr. Arrillaga might reinitiate his offer. Or perhaps he would consider a donation towards a state of the art library in Belle Haven?
