Stanford Permit Request

> Dear Members of The City Council:
> It has come to my attention that Stanford University is requesting a permit to do construction on Santa Cruz Ave. that will have a direct affect upon the residents of Sharon Oaks by increasing the amount of traffic and noise produced by an ever increasing flow of vehicles along the route. To suggest that there is a "Rush Hour" is ludicrous. By three in the afternoon there is a backup of traffic on Sand Hill Road extending from the Sand Hill/Santa Cruz intersection to past the Oakwood Apartments and beyond. I have a Monday commitment that requires I leave shortly before 10 a.m., and regularly Sand Hill is backed up, bumper-to-bumper, heading east, from the intersection, past Sharon Road and well on towards 280.
> Any increase of Stanford properties will only exacerbate an already serious situation. If The Council sees fit to extend this permit to Stanford, The Council must also extend its authority and require that Stanford pay the cost of mitigating the increased noise levels to our community with the construction of a higher, thicker wall along Sand Hill Road. (It would also appear that Menlo Park might also bear some responsibility, in that any construction along Sand Hill might entail tree or root removal, and traffic-control issues.)
> Thank you for considering my concerns.
