Hi Everyone,

Please mark your calendars for *September 19th at 6:30pm*. The Menlo Park
City School District will kick-off its 2017-2018 Speaker Series with "*Between
Home and School: Why Safe Routes Matter and How to Make Them Happen.*" This
event will take place in the Hillview Middle School Performing Arts Center
(PAC) at 1100 Elder Ave., MP. The purpose of this talk will be to educate
and inspire parents, and the community at large, about Safe Routes to
School and how they have the power to improve the quality of life for all
in Menlo Park.

I will be giving the main presentation, and I will be followed by a panel
including Menlo Park Mayor, Kirsten Kieth, Menlo Park Complete Streets
Chair, Bianca Walser and others involved in Safe Routes to School efforts.
It promises to be an informative and engaging evening. I hope to see you
there.

Sincerely,
Jen

*Between Home and School - Why Safe Routes Matter and How to Make Them
Happen*
*Jen Wolosin, Founder and Chair, Parents for Safe Routes and MPCSD Parent*

In 1969, 50% of kids nationwide walked or biked to school. In 2009, just
13% did. Learn how your fellow parents are advocating for children in our
community to be able to walk and bike to school safely. Through examining
efforts around the country and internationally, be inspired to join the
Safe Routes movement so your children and generations of kids to come, can
experience the benefits of walking and biking to school (healthier bodes
and minds, increased independence and confidence, more connectedness to
neighbors and on). If you're sick of driving your kids less than a mile to
school and/or worried about traffic and safety on the streets, you won't
want to miss this event. Following the speaker there will also be a panel
to answer questions including Menlo Park Mayor, Kirsten Keith, Menlo Park
Complete Streets Commission Chair, Bianca Walser and others!

*Tuesday, September 19th at 6:30pm*
Hillview Middle School, PAC, 1100 Elder Ave., Menlo Park, CA 94025
This event is free and open to the public.
