I have been a resident of Menlo Park for over 30 years. I just heard about the proposed AB1250 which would eliminate contracted services in Menlo Park. This is a very foolish and bad idea. I am a daily user of the Burgess Pool (for at least 25 years). I struggled when Menlo Park city employees ran to pool. Limited hours, disgusting showers and changing areas, and very limited options for most residents to use the facility. In fact it was so bad that I found alternative pools. The best thing the city ever did was contract out the pool to Sheeper who has made this a world class facility, catering to a very broad portion of the Menlo Park population. Why in the world would you ever consider going back to a stone age system?
Eliminating contracted services for the city destroys creativity and thinking out of the box, which as city we continually need to do.
