I oppose Menlo Park becoming a "Sanctuary City"

To the City Council -

I oppose Sanctuary City status for several reasons:

1. This is a country of laws. People should obey laws, even those we
don't like.
2. Amnesty of some sort seems like a good idea. But, a sensible plan
should be devised and enacted. Sanctuary cities are a mindless way to deal
with the challenge of finding a proper immigration policy
3. Resisting federal law is an ugly practice. It was last done by
Southern segregationists like George Wallace and Strom Thurmond.
4. Senator Bernie Sanders pointed out that the real unemployment rate
for black youths is 50%. Illegal immigrants are taking entry-level jobs
away from black youths and keeping them out of the labor force.

Sincerely yours,

David Skurnick
