County of San Mateo's Energy programs' success in Menlo Park!

Dear Mayor Keith and Council Members,
The County Office of Sustainability staff have produced this excellent update on their energy efficiency progress in Menlo Park. The report attached shows that 26 home upgrades, 4 multi-family properties, 22 small business, and 7 city projects were completed in 2016, reducing energy use in Melo Park. Notably over 4,000 therms of natural gas use was reduced from multi-family buildings, saving those tenants money on their utility bills.

This year we’re collaborating with consultants and San Mateo County staff to develop model clean energy ordinances, through the Peninsula Advanced Energy Communities<http://www.clean-coalition.org/peninsula-advanced-energy-community-launches-will-provide-framework-for-the-future-of-clean-energy/> <http://www.clean-coalition.org/peninsula-advanced-energy-community-launches-will-provide-framework-for-the-future-of-clean-energy/> initiative. The City of Menlo Park provides an excellent model for other cities to follow with the recently adopted zoning regulations that require renewable energy. We’ll be evaluating clean energy measures from other cities that could be beneficial to Menlo Park.

I look forward to continuing to collaborate with the City of Menlo Park and the County to reduce our energy use and carbon footprint.
Sincerely,
Diane

Hi Diane,

The San Mateo County Office of Sustainability Energy and Water Division has been implementing Single Family, Multifamily, Municipal and Commercial energy efficiency programs in Menlo Park since 2013. We are pleased to share our progress with you through 2016 with a dashboard customized to Menlo Park.

The dashboard includes:

· Descriptions of BayREN programs

· Descriptions of Energy Watch programs

· Project data and energy savings

· Outreach and engagement metrics
This dashboard can be a great resource to inform your Climate Action Plan, share with colleagues and decision makers, and learn more about our diverse program offerings. If you are interested in partnering on any of these programs or if you have any questions, please reach out to me. Feel free to forward to others working on sustainability issues in Menlo Park.

Best,
Rachael Londer
