Menlo Park Bike Route Pilot Program

To the City of Menlo Park,

I am writing to express my support for the proposed pilot program to test
out a bike route in Menlo Park connecting MA High to Middle Avenue alon Oak
Grove, Crane, Live Oak, and University.

I am a resident of downtown Menlo Park who uses a bicycle as a primary
form of transportation (for work commute, errands, and recreational
events). In my time here I have been somewhat disappointed with several
aspects of the infrastructure in the area. In particular, these include
difficulties in crossing El Camino Real, the "rumble strips" that were left
in the bike lanes along Santa Cruz after the parking spaces were removed,
and the general feeling that automobile parking and traffic flow is
prioritized over cycling infrastructure (such as the on-street parking
along Menlo Avenue). This plan seems like it would provide help in
alleviating the difficulty in crossing ECR, something that should benefit
cyclists of all ages.
