Please move forward with the Oak Grove Bike Route Pilot

Dear members of the Menlo Park City Council,

I am writing to request that you move forward with the Oak Grove Bike Route
Pilot. Although I understand that this will take some parking spots away,
having more bikes on the roads will benefit everyone and help keep our
children safe.

I bike with my children EVERY DAY to Encinal Elementary, rain or shine. We
ride 100% of the way on bike lanes, which is the only way I'd feel safe
biking to school with my children.

My eldest child is in fourth grade, and I would dearly love for him to bike
to Hillview independently. I won't allow him to do this, however, without
a dedicated bike route. It is simply too risky. I would join the hundreds
of other parents in this area that drive their children to school, adding
to the traffic jams and pollution that are already blighting our lovely
town.

Menlo Park is an exciting and important geographical hub that houses
Facebook, SRI and numerous other companies and businesses. As these
companies grow along with our school populations, having a 'low tech'
solution to help thousands of children get safely to and from school is
crucial.

Therefore, I respectfully request that you consider moving forward with the
Bike Route Pilot without delay.

Sincerely,
Diane McGrath
(mother of two biking children)
