TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION AT COUNCIL MEETINGS

Honorable Mayor Keith and Council Members,

Silicon Valley is known for many things, but one of them may be for
TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION.

In this spirit, would the City Council of Menlo Park consider adding to
your regular meeting agenda 10 MINUTES for citizens to be able to T E L E P
H O N E you with their comments, much like is done during the Public
Comment agenda item. 10 minutes may be a wonderful way for citizens that

1) Are unable to attend the meeting, due to family obligations, work,
traffic congestion, or illness.

2) Or, may be out of town, along with a host of other legitimate reasons.

DEMOCRACY depends on public participation. We are entering times where
this may be more important than ever.

Council Members out of town regularly CALL INTO THE MEETING, as was
recently the case when you were in Washington DC for the National League of
Cities meeting. This right, this privilege and this technology should not only
be available to you, but to everyone, limiting each persons comments to three
 minutes.

Kindly discuss this idea to see if it has merit.
