Re: Vote YES on Menlo Park Ban on Religious Registry & Ban on Internment/Relocation Ordinance

Hi Farha,
Thank you for your email. I have news you may be happy to hear. Last fall after I proposed the anti-registry /internment ordinance in Menlo Park, the City of San Francisco also took up the issue. Their process moved much faster than in Menlo Park, and I was honored to consult with representatives from the ACLU and from one of the Supervisors office working on the SF ordinance. Tomorrow Mayor Ed Lee will sign San Francisco's anti-registry ordinance into law.
San Francisco has confirmed they will be the first municipality in the nation to do so.

Thank you for your support on this issue.

With best regards,
Ray Mueller

Subject: Vote YES on Menlo Park Ban on Religious Registry & Ban on Internment/Relocation Ordinance

Dear City Council of Menlo Park,

I'm writing in strong support of Councilman Ray Mueller's Proposed Ban on Religious Registry Participation and Ban on Internment/Relocation Ordinance.

I am a concerned Muslim citizen and a proud homeowner in Menlo Park. I believe a possible call for a registry based on faith, country of origin, or ethnic identification is a violation of human rights. As a mother of two children, I worry what conversations about a potential ban might mean for my children's identity and idea of self-worth. Unfortunately, the Japanese Internment Camps are a very scary precedent. This is un-American and we must stand up for the rights of everyone. Muslim or not, our common identity is under assault.

Thank you for voting in support of the Ban on Religious Registry Participation and Ban on Internment/Relocation Ordinance.

Sincerely,
Farha Chowdry
Homeowner and Resident of Menlo Park
Mother of two children, Oak Knoll
